Gray Kittens

Gray Kittens are Adorable

It is hard to pass up gray kittens as they are so adorable! Their fur is a color that looks very soft and inviting. Kittens with such coloring are also known to sometimes have blue eyes. That is a combination that is going to offer you a gorgeous cat at any age. Many people like this color better than an orange or white color because the kitten will look well groomed. We all know that there are many people that don’t like the idea of a black cat!

There are many different breeds of gray kittens out there. Many of them are a mix of two different breeds. Even though they aren’t a purebred they can have some great characteristics. The color of a kitten as well as the personality it exhibits are what often draw people to them. The breed isn’t always something that they are worried about. This is especially true if they are getting one of those gray kittens for free.

A tabby is a common type of kitten that can have gray on it. The colors can range from a light silver color to a very dark and heavy gray. Tabbies have a mixture of colors on them which is why they are so different to look at. In fact, gray kittens from the same litter can show a huge range of different markings when it comes to this area.

Solid gray kittens are every bit as lovely though. They will also feature a type of coloring that can range from one end of the spectrum to the next. For those that end up with very dark shades of gray, the term maltese may be associated with it. However, that is just a fancy word to identify solid dark gray kittens.

Solid colored gray kittens can be the offspring of a tabby cat and even from two tabby cats. The reason for this is that the solid coloring is the result of a recessive genetic gene. With it present from both parents it can become dominant in a number of the offspring. If the roots of the hairs are white though then your kitten isn’t really classified as a solid. Instead, it fits into a category known as a smoke.

These types of gray cats are very lovely to look at. When they are still all you will see is the gray coloring. However, when they are moving about then the white underneath their coat can often be seen. It adds a very elegant and even majestic image to the cat as it gets older. Part of this is because the movements of cats are often seen as very graceful to begin with.

There are plenty of kittens out there with random patches of gray. They also feature many other colors on their coat too. These kittens fall into a category known as the calico. There is a very well known breed of gray kittens though that people will pay lots of money for. This is the Siamese cat and it can feature areas of both light gray and dark gray throughout the fur. They also have lovely blue or green eyes but some of them may feature one blue eye and one green eye.

Coming up with a great name for gray kittens can be difficult. For a boy, you may consider names that have to do with their coloring. For example Smoke or Haze may be something you would call them. Pepper can be a good choice too if your cat is a darker color of gray. For females gray kittens names like Shadow and Ash can be a good fit.
